Father Stephen

As parish priest of Uckfield and Heron's Ghyll, may I say what a joy it is to also have such good links with St Philip's, our parish school. I arrived in the parish in the autumn of 2010 and have been made so welcome by both parish and school. There is already a great deal of cooperation between school and parish, and I look forward to deepening these links as we continue to serve both the Catholic and wider community in our area. Originally I hail from Yorkshire, and so am a keen cricket fan. I served as a police officer in West Yorkshire after reading economics and politics at university, and have been a Catholic priest for 13 years. I have previously served parishes in Surrey and West Sussex, but am now thoroughly enjoying life in East Sussex.

Deacon David

Hello, I am Deacon David. I assist Father Stephen in the parishes of Our Lady Immaculate and St Philip Neri in Uckfield and St John the Evangelist in Heron's Ghyll. I am also a chaplain to front-line emergency staff of the South East Coast Ambulance Service. I have been a deacon for a little over ten years, and have been in Uckfield for seven years.

Deacon Simon

I am Deacon Simon and I am married to Jill. We have lived in the Uckfield area for the past 28 years and we have four children all of whom have now left school but who all went to St. Philip's. I work for myself doing painting and decorating and I was ordained as a deacon in July 2011. I also help Fr. Stephen in the parishes and I am looking forward to working with the staff and pupils of St. Philip's.

Deacon Ken

I am Deacon Ken and married to Jenny. We have three children and four grandchildren. We lived in Essex until we moved to the West Country in 1996 and we moved to Uckfield in October 2014 to be nearer our younger daughter and younger granddaughter. I was ordained a deacon for Clifton Diocese in July 2004. I ministered for ten years in a parish with three churches - one in each of the three small towns – it was largely a rural parish. Jenny and I are very grateful for the warm reception we received from Fr Stephen, the Deacons and the people in Uckfield and Heron’s Ghyll. I look forward to assisting Fr Stephen and Deacons David and Simon in serving in the two parishes and working with the staff, pupils and parents at St Philip’s school.
