Dear St Philip’s families,
It was lovely to see so many of you at our Dressing of the Cross Liturgy. Year 3 and Year 4 led us beautifully in remembering the importance of the Easter message. It was very moving to see the plain wooden cross being brought to life by the beautiful flowers everyone had brought in.
The children have all been learning about how to stay safe. Last week we held an Anti-bullying assembly. The children thought about what is and isn’t bullying and learnt about the importance of telling, Everyone then completed a hand outline naming five people they can tell if they feel they are being bullied. This week, Year 4 were visited by the RNLI who told them all about their work and educated them about water safety.
Children from Key Stage 2 performed beautifully at the Dance assembly. They have obviously practised a lot and have had great fun practising and perfecting their moves.
The Spring Disco was a resounding success and I would like to thank the Friend’s for all their hard work in making this event possible. Thank you, too, to all the teachers for joining in with the dancing and Miss Colbran for being a great MC!
As many of you know Miss Fisher got married over the Easter holidays. She was going to remain as Miss Fisher but her class decided otherwise! The children have been enthusiastically calling her Mrs Hassett since the holidays, so she has decided to officially become Mrs Hassett. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Hassett from all of us at St Philip’s and best wishes for a long and happy life together.
Many of our Year 3 children will be making their First Holy Communion this weekend. I wish them a wonderful day and would like to ask that you remember them and their families in your prayers at this special time. With very best wishes for a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend.
Bishop Richard Moth
We are very pleased that our new bishop, Richard Moth will be visiting the parish and school on Wednesday 1st July. This will be a rather fleeting occasion, as Bishop Richard has many schools and parishes to visit in the diocese. We are very pleased however to be celebrating a whole school Mass with him at 9.15am on the day, to which you are all very welcome.
We have a large amount of lost property including coats, uniform and miscellaneous. These items will be held until Monday 18th May. If you would like to check these items they are in the school office.
School Uniform Shop
This will now be open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8.30 – 9.00am. If these times are not suitable please send an order form in with cash or cheque to the school office.
