Dear St Philip’s Families,
Teaching and Learning
There is a real buzz of learning in the school, which is wonderful, when we remember what a disrupted year and a bit we’ve all had. Year 3 have been enjoying making Roman shields and Year 5 amazed me with their rainforest sounds – I had my eyes closed and really thought I was there! All teachers undertook a work scrutiny in their subject area this week. It was fantastic to see the learning and progress the children have been making – it’s why we all chose to teach!
Our football team Dylan, Michael J, Louis, Michael D, Oliver D, Isabel, Rohan, Ollie L and Harry L, played Framfield and Blackboys on the 15th June. They played incredibly well and won 7-1. Goals were scored by Dylan (2), Michael (2),Louis (2) and Michael D (1).
They played again on the 24th July with the addition of Ollie H and Caelan (Y5), against Rocks Park and won again 2-0. Goals were scored by Dylan and Oliver L. They played amazingly with great team spirit and sportsmanship. A true credit to the sport and school.
We were lucky with the weather on Sports Day, with only light drizzle for the Year 1 and 2 event. There was an amazing atmosphere amongst the children, with just the right level of competitiveness and laughter and support when things didn’t go as well as they could. It was wonderful to welcome spectators for the first event in a long time too – thank you for all your cheering!
