Dear St Philip’s Families,
Another two weeks have passed, as we continue our journey towards Advent.
November is a month when traditionally we remember those who have passed away. It is also the month when we celebrate Remembrance Day. In our assemblies over the last two weeks, we have explored Remembrance and the symbolism of the poppy, in addition to partaking in the two minute silence.
In our Year 5/6 assembly on Wednesday, we examined “The Parable of the Talents” from the Gospel of Luke. We discussed how this fits perfectly with our aim to “Let your light shine!” and how we can make the best of our talents to make a difference in the world.
We are pleased to announce that we will still be doing nativities this year. Our Reception children will take part in a simple nativity and our infant and junior nativities will still take place. We will be recording these and sending them to parents. We are asking for a £1 donation per child to contribute to the cost of this.
Our Christmas dinner and dress up day will still be happening on Wednesday 16th December. Children can come to school in Christmas fancy dress, Christmas colours or just add some tinsel to their outfit in return for bringing in a donation for the CAFOD World gifts appeal. Do take a look at : https://worldgifts.cafod.org.uk to see what our donations can buy to support families in developing countries.
